BETTY SCHMIDT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Betty Schmidt, a Licensed Public Accountant (LPA) from Coeur dAlene, Idaho, served as president of the IAPA during 1986-87. Unfortunately she passed away much too soon to suit her many friends throughout the state. The IAPA has established the Betty Schmidt Memorial Scholarship Fund in her honor and memory to help support outstanding students who are Idaho residents attending Idaho universities and colleges.

Recipients of $1,000 scholarships for the 2008/2009 school year are:

Applications for scholarships for the 2007-2008 school year will be available January 1, 2009. The deadline for submission is April 15, 2009.

Qualified applicants must

Be Idaho residents.

Major in Accounting.

Attend an Idaho college or university.

Be a junior or senior Accounting student, or graduate level, during the 2098-2010 academic year.
 
Application Requirements:

Submit the completed, signed application form.

Provide an official college transcript for all course work.




 

Provide a letter of recommendation from the head of the accounting department or a professor of accounting at the college or university in which you are currently enrolled.

The scholar/scholars are selected annually based on financial need and academic performance. Official college transcripts and the letter of recommendation must be postmarked no later than April 15, 2009. All scholarship candidates will be notified of the selections in July. Checks are sent directly to the school prior to the beginning of the fall term.

The foundation Scholarship Award may be used for either undergraduate or graduate tuition, books, or on-campus housing.
 
NSA SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

A part of the National Society of Accountant's mission is to encourage careers in accounting. This objective is carried out primarily through NSA''s scholarship which is administered by the NSA Scholarship Foundation. The Scholarship Foundation awards an average of 30 scholarships per year in the amount of $500 to $1,000. A special award has also been established for relatives of NSA Active Members pursuing accounting studies. The Scholarship Foundation is a 501 (c)3 organization and relies solely on voluntary contributions to fulfill its purpose. The affairs of the Scholarship Foundation are managed by an eight member Board of Trustees.
